Terme di Chianciano Garden Festival

Chianciano Terme 19 June 25 September 2015

Terme di Chianciano Garden Festival, a newly conceived three month-long event, was held in the Tuscan city of Chianciano Terme on the grounds of the Acqua Santa Park, one of the city thermal parks,
Having launched its first edition in June 2015 and focusing on the creation of temporary theme gardens and green installations, the festival has looked at contemporary art through the lens of garden and landscape design.
The event brought together landscape architecture and contemporary art practices through an international competition, where designers, artists and landscape architects have responded to the theme and challenged innovation in the field of contemporary and conceptual gardens.

The theme of the 2015 competition "The contradictory feeling of excitement and peace in the garden" has been explored by the designers through original and provocative garden and contemporary art creations, stimulating discordant sensations of vitality and peace, passion and calm, exuberance and tranquility.

Simona Cavaliere has developed the project proposal and conceived the new event from the conceptualization, the definition of the core values, to the mission and vision and the strategic plan, through to the budget and benchmark analysis.
As co-curator and project manager of the festival Simona Cavliere has supervised the event from its inception throughout all the project phases, including the shortlist process and the setting up of winning works.

The Festival's figures:

36 submitted applications from Italy, UK and Spain
9 8o sqm gardens were built
7.000 visitors
Highligths of the press reviews on Corriere della Sera, Gardenia, LifestyleJournal, Vanity Fair, Sette, Living del Corriere
